Hormones are one of my biggest passions. Not only because I have personally struggled with it for so long, but because so many others have as well. There are way too many symptoms that are common and considered “normal”. Cramps, PMS, mood swings, low libido and skin issues are all not normal. It is your body’s warning sign. Yet we go everyday accepting all these things. But you don’t have to!
So how does Alexia work on regulating your hormones? Lets start...
Every person is individual, so like I will always say, every protocol is different & complex. But the most common chain I see is stress, especially if you live in the fast pace modern world. So how can we take control of your stress, deeper than just mindfulness & meditations?
Stress comes in many forms, like in the photo above. A lot of things are hard to control, things like work stress, financial stress, familial stress etc. But what can we control together? I will help you control your nutritional stress, and help get rid of the chemicals & toxins causing stress inside your body. As well as guidance for you to work on Emotional, Physical, Psychological & Environmental stress. Stress management is lifelong effort, and I will help you with tools & tricks to best handle those.
To continue, stress plays a huge role in Adrenal health!
The adrenals are glands that sit right on top of your kidneys, controlled by the brain. They produce a wide
variety of hormones, including Cortisol, Estrogen & Testosterone, Adrenalin hormones, and Mineralocorticoids. It is responsible for your “fight or flight”, and blood sugar regulation. So when you are stressed out, your adrenals will be the first call to action. Turning off your sex hormones, so that we can create adrenalin to fight off the stress. So when you are in constant stress, your cycles become irregular, you start breaking out, having mood swings, anxiety, PMS etc. That is why I always treat & look at how “burnt out” your adrenals are.
To further explain, the part of the brain that controls the adrenals, also control your thyroid & your ovaries. I like to explain it as a 3 legged stool. If all 3 legs are strong & sturdy, you can sit on it and it does its job. If any one of these legs are weak, the stool starts tipping over and that is where you have issues. Usually your adrenals are the first to go out because of all the stress in our lives. That is when you will have menstrual & thyroid problems. In order for your thyroid & ovaries to be doing it’s job, you need your adrenals to be as well. So, once you support the weak leg, all the other legs get stronger and they can do their job accordingly again.
Another example is during Peri-menopause & menopause. What happens is your ovaries stop producing sex hormones, so all of the weight falls back onto your thyroid & adrenals. So if your adrenals & thyroid is already burnt out from all the years prior, that is where all your symptoms will start popping up: night sweats, hot flashes, weight gain, etc.
Looking at the whole picture brings us harmony. Don’t expect one supplement will fix all your issues.
